Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage/American Community Survey Data: 2004

The U.S. Census Bureau held a news conference to release two reports: Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2004, containing findings from the Current Population Survey (CPS); and Income, Earnings, and Poverty Data from the 2004 American Community Survey (ACS). The CPS findings are for the nation and states, while the ACS findings pertain to states, as well as counties and cities of 250,000 or more people. The ACS report also includes a comparison of earnings for men and women by selected characteristics, including race and Hispanic origin, education, industry and occupation.

Income, Poverty, Health Insurance and American Community Survey (ACS)

The Census Bureau held this news conference to release the consolidated report on 2003 money income, poverty and health insurance coverage for the nation-- results based on the Current Population Survey. Simultaneously, the Census Bureau will release income and poverty data from the 2003 American Community Survey for states and other areas with populations of 250,000 or more.

Commerce Secretary and Census Bureau Director Announce Final Response Rates for Census 2000

Secretary of Commerce Norman Mineta and Census Bureau Director Kenneth Prewitt announced the release of Census 2000 final response rates for the nation, counties, cities and census tracts at a news briefing on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the National Press Club. The final rates update the initial response rates posted on the Internet last April. They show how many housing units returned a census questionnaire by mail, phone, Internet or via a "Be Counted" form obtained at a community center.
