The U.S. Department of Education's National
Center for Education Statistics will be
releasing "Distance Education at Degree-Granting Postsecondary
Institutions: 2000-
2001", a new report that shows that more than half of the nation's
two and four-year
degree institutions offered distance education courses in 2000-2001,
and that there
were about 3.1 million enrollments in all distance education courses
offered by these
institutions. John Bailey, director, Office of Educational Technology,
and other
department officials will discuss these and other findings in the
report in a virtual
briefing.
