FutureGen Alliance to Announce Short List of Candidate Sites
Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, July 25, the FutureGen Alliance will announce the results of the technical criteria evaluation of 12 site applications from seven states vying to host a $1 billion, first-of-a-kind, near-zero emissions coal-fueled power plant. Since April, teams of renowned U.S. and international scientists have carefully reviewed the 12 proposals. The candidate sites announced on Tuesday will move forward to the next step of the selection process.
FutureGen will be a prototype of a commercial-scale power plant that will fuel the world's economy, sustain livelihoods and meet demand for clean electricity. The project has maintained an aggressive schedule and Tuesday's announcement marks another milestone in developing this technology solution.
