Investment Company Institute President Paul Schott Stevens delivers remarks
before the National Press Club in an address focusing on how to harness the
Internet to better inform mutual fund shareholders.
SEC Chairman Christopher Cox noted recently that it's high time to harness
the power of the Internet, “… to put investors in the driver's seat when
it comes to information about, and control over, their money.” ICI believes
his challenge represents a historic opportunity to fix an information disclosure
regime that focuses on quantity over quality.
Stevens addressed how to leverage new modes of communications
to help investors — including America's 91 million mutual
fund owners — gain much greater access to the key information
they need to educate themselves and reach their financial
goals.
