Breakthrough Service Puts Patients in Healthcare Driver's Seat; Benefits Entire Healthcare Industry

In response to a growing demand for a nationwide healthcare IT infrastructure, a coalition of U.S. medical societies and leading healthcare organizations will launch a new online service that will allow every American to take control of their personal health, as well as the health of their parents, children and loved ones. This historic new service also includes contributions from the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, CDC, FDA and other national experts.

This interactive service will benefit all patients, physicians, and caregivers by improving the quality of patient care, advancing medication adherence and disease management, and reducing medical errors, liability and costs. It also represents an important first step in the nation's efforts to empower patients and improve medicine using Information Technology as called for by President Bush.
