Biography:
Jonathan K. Frenzen
Clinical Professor of
Marketing, Graduate School of Business
University of Chicago
Jonathan K. Frenzen is a
clinical professor of marketing at the University of Chicago’s Graduate School
of Business. His research activities
focus on the impact of social factors on markets, business-to-business
marketing, product development, and sales management. He has published several papers and articles in various academic
journals, focusing on social influences on buyer behavior and the flow of
market information. He presently serves as the Director of the Management
Laboratories at the Graduate School of Business, a member of the Faculty
Advisory Board for UCTech (the technology transfer office for the University of
Chicago), Special Advisor to the University Vice President for Research
Administration.
Prof. Frenzen has, for the
last year, been conducting research to look specifically at consumer attitudes
towards genetically modified ingredients in food products. As with other food products, his research
has found that mandatory labels are an ineffective way to communicate
information to the average consumer.
Prior to joining the faculty
at the University of Chicago, Prof. Frenzen was an Assistant Professor,
Department of Marketing, Graduate School of Business, University of
Arizona.
Frenzen earned his B.A in
cultural anthropology from the University of Chicago. He then went on to earn his M.B.A. in marketing from the
University of Chicago and also completed his Ph.D. in marketing from the
University of Chicago.
